The store is always neat & clean, & adequately stocked...unless everyone panic buys before a major weather event. Clay is wonderful! He's a very kind, patient, soft-spoken individual, always willing to help in whatever way he can. If there's something you need, he's willing to order it for you. Prices for items that I've needed have consistently been lower than those at the big-name national stores, which helps in today's economy. They also have boarding facilities which other family members have utilized with positive experiences. Well worth the time and patronage.

One of our babies is small and old and has a difficult time trusting people. I am always confident that we will not have issues taking them here. Hannah & Destiny are two of the main groomers and they are phenomenal with our grumpy old man. Not to mention, they get the job done exactly to what our requests are. Petco as accomodating to keep me abreast of the schedule to pick up Tyler right on time as I lived about 15 miles from the store. Additionally, the store has different pet accessories that are advanced in this new pet care world.

I wasn't sure what to order, but after describing what I liked, I got a delicious recommendation that was far better than your average coffee shop. I initially heard about them from a Facebook debate asking whether Kraken or Muddy Waters is better, and the overwhelming consensus led me to try it myself. I've officially been converted!

The Kraken Coffeehouse
615 E Main St, Elizabeth CityOn a recent business trip, I stopped by The Kraken to grab a coffee for my wife and something different for myself. The building is fantastic. It’s incredibly inviting, with a fun theme and a beautiful mix of mid-century leather furniture and warm wood accents that make you want to hang out for a while.
The young lady who helped me was an absolute 10 out of 10. My wife enjoys a very specific type of iced coffee, and I always get tongue-tied trying to explain it because not every coffee shop can recreate what she’s looking for. She listened, understood exactly what I meant, and absolutely nailed it. She was genuinely friendly, patient, and a pleasure to deal with.
She also talked me into ordering some sort of creamy orange, dirty coconut concoction that I’m fairly certain I could never successfully order again…but whatever it was, it was phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
As a general rule, I don’t tip at places where you order at the counter. I’ve always felt tipping is reserved for servers who are taking care of you at a table. But exceptional service deserves to be recognized, and the friendliness, knowledge, and genuine hospitality I received earned them a well-deserved 20% tip.
If you’re looking for great coffee, a unique atmosphere, and people who truly enjoy what they do, The Kraken is well worth the stop.

I hope it never changes because everything we had tasted amazing. Our server was attentive and honestly the wait wasn’t long for the food. Knowing it’s a scratch kitchen we expected a longer wait especially since the place was packed when we came but it wasn’t long at all. This is definitely going to be a staple for us ❤ The only improvement I’d suggest is some maintenance on the outside of the building. The food definitely makes up for it though.
