TL:DR - Hiring process is crap and annoying to deal with, Hispanic section is good, and their donuts are AMAZING.
Come here AT LEAST for the donuts, fr worth it.
8 of my friends (9 including me) never got any kind of response when we applied to work here, plus the managers always seemed to mysteriously unavailable to be spoken to.
I've literally called the store, got told to call back the next morning, called the next morning, "Manager on vacation" :/
when will they be back? " X date." Thanks so much.
Called back on X date, "She'll be here tomorrow morning" thanks.
Calls back tomorrow morning, "Hi, not here. Call again tomorrow morning."
At which point I came INTO THE STORE to speak with this elusive hiring manager, just to be told that they were on vacation and won't be back for a while.

So suffice to say, hiring process seems messy, outdated, unreliable, and flat out non-functional at times.
The website needs to be updated, the employees need proper customer service training because regardless of what I'm calling about, and who's answering, it's always in a tone that sounds like I might aswell be interrupting a neurosurgeon mid incision.
The only redeeming quality of this store is what it sells, and I'm not talking standard groceries.
Not only does Shoppers have a decent spread of hispanic foods, ingredients, drinks & snacks, but it's also got some of, if not THE BEST donuts you could buy from a store.
The donut chains like Dunkin or Krispy Kreme got nothing on SFW donuts, they got Croissant donuts (Cronuts), marble iced, Holland Creme (my favorite), jam filled, lemon pudding filled, boston creme, and of course all your standard donut types like powdered, brown sugar, plain and glazed, not to even mention some specialty ones they have on occasion like the apple pie filled brown sugar, or marbled icing cronuts.
Plus they're reasonably priced, which automatically raises the rating for me.

It's at least 50 cents cheaper than anywhere else nearby. No wonder it's always a fight to get in. It would be perfect if the narcissists didn't clog up the streets nearby.”

However, I came here, Yates Car eash and they are still offering the interior service. Everything cost $48.

“Speedway can only get a 20 out of 20 from me not just for price but moreso for its role it played for me in fighting a red light ticket just up the block at Gibbons and South Patrick street. Speedway is one curb cut away from Gibbons which is very important in my story. You see, the City Council of Alexandria has very specific rules on red light running IF you actually ran the red light.
I did not.
I fought the photo enforcement ticket all the way to Court which meant first going to the police station hearing to see the police 'evidence' only to watch the cop go white when I presented my evidence. The difference between the Cops evidence and mine was literally night and day, truly. The Cos evidence was tampered with.
How the gas station played in to beating the photo enforcement ticket was their kindness in letting me get gas of course and also park near their air machine so I could walk the steps from curb cut to Gibbons, photograph and video the light changes.
The Judge was gobsmacked. Took one look at the Cop, one look at me... I had exposed how the City of Alexandria knowingly, with intent, uses fraud to exploit Gibbons and S Patrick's light being a cash cow- minutes away from the highway interchange.
Thank you Speedway for your kindness and, of course, great gas prices in Virginia.”

“The owner has owned this store for many years and have had loyal, kind and respectful clerks that have been there for years. Freddy is a very friendly, smart, kind and has a great sense of humor who greets the customers with a smile and very quick and efficient and accurate with the customers purchasing and bagging.bThe store is always clean and fully stocked. The challenges that many stores face in Annandale is the day laborers congregating in the parking lots to earn employment daily. The small and difficult parking lot sits in the corner of Hummer and little river turnpike service road so navigating thru the outside parking lot is difficult. Along with the FCPD placing a large police camera and stand to monitor high traffic areas prone to crime. This also takes up space but I'm assuming it's a deterrent to eliminate or keep criminal activity to a minimum. The store doesn't allow service animals which is a double negative but maybe the community will convince the owner to allow behaved service animals due to Annandale being the home for a lot of PSH programs, and homeless to housed residents who require ESA or service animals to function thru out the day. The coffee and bakery section is always fresh and clean. The food section is always upheld with the highest hygienic practices.”
