“Super convenient one stop shop if you are craving something quick and Japanese near Grand Central. There is fresh sushi and chirashi available from Oksana, made to order onigiri from Omusubi Gonbei, and ramen from Brooklyn Ramen. Like most Japanese grocery chains in the city, they also have house made bentos that I believe are discounted towards the end of the day. The line snakes around the entire store during the lunch rush, so I would advise avoiding it if possible. Although the line moves quickly, definitely factor in an extra 20 minutes if you brave the lines then.”

“If you live in the neighborhood who needs Broadway when this local supermarket has just about everything....and some things that you never thought you needed. The best part about this supermarket is that it's got its own little butcher shop in the back where they will clean up your meats and cut to any specified desire.I feel like the meats are way fresher than what is available on Broadway in most cases. The supermarket is family owned and operated and I have been visiting them for years!”

“What I like about this place is the knowledge of the people who work there. Their concerned with the individuals health seems to be the main ingredient in everything they do. Their blueberry smoothie is to me, the best in the vicinity. Remember to silence your cell phone before stepping into the store. Place is pleasant.Takeout: Yes”

“Food: Tacos and the consomé were fantastic!! The pineapple salsa was perfectly spicy and sweet!! I will say for birria tacos, it was quite expensive but I guess that's what I get for craving tacos in NYC...for reference I got two tacos with cheese with consomé and my total came out to around $20!! Absurd, LA would never do my wallet dirty like that!! Anyway, it was still really good and it curbed my craving so 10/10!! Service: There is very very little seating inside so definitely when it's busy it best to take it to go but I enjoy eating tacos on the spot while they're still hot. Our food came out fairly slow but nothing outrageous and would definitely recommend if you're in the area but don't go out of your way for it!”

“Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The deli counter serves fresh sandwiches to order as well as prepared foods made day-of, from salmon to avocado salad and chicken cooked a million ways. The produce section is very fresh. I treat Lanes as my grocery store as well as a place to pick up sandwiches on my lunch hour. A true neighborhood gem!!”

“This place has quickly become a go-to in my neighborhood. When everything is overpriced, plus I'm pretty sick of everything in the area, this has been godsend for variety.Their breakfasts are served all day, and they are great. Props for the breakfast wraps. Their paninis come with a can of soda and chips. To me, this is one of the best deals in Manhattan. I also love that they have RC Cola in cans!”

“Went here on Easter Sunday and it was our first time. We booked online but later on we learned it failed (I think this needs fixing). We called and said there’s a wait time of 30 minutes because it was packed. We were assisted well. Food came quick despite that there’s a lot of people. There was also a band for the special day. We have a baby on a stroller that they gave space to and he was able to stay asleep despite the place being loud (of course people are talking and its again.. packed). We tried different dishes and shared each to each other and the best dish for us was the pulled pork. Its also our first time trying fried avocados. We love the mango cheesecake! Overall it was a nice experience and it we’d definitely be back!”

“Really appreciate the pharmacists & the associate who answered my call & helped me! This location on 1st ave has exceptionally caring & courteous pharmacists & would recommend this location. A diff RiteAide location in the city are not always as courteous depending which pharmacy associate u get there & some are extremely careless & unhelpful at the other locations. For example, other RiteAide location told me to call them back 5days later just to see if they will order my regular meds citing their regular pharmacist was not available, so then no other pharmacist could order my regular meds until 5days later?!?!?? Wow! Major insensitivity to patient’s needs. Total opposite at 1st ave location. All pharmacists & associates were helpful in filling my regular medication order RIGHT AWAY! All pharmacy associates were friendly & nice at 81 1st ave location & took care of their patient needs in a timely manner.”

“In the hazy glow of a Sunday morning in March, I found myself wandering through the bustling streets of Manhattan's Financial District. It was a day like any other, yet somehow different, as if the air itself held a sense of anticipation. As I made my way uptown towards the vibrant East Village, memories of my culinary journey flooded my mind.I had graduated from culinary school the very year Anthony Bourdain's seminal work, "Kitchen Confidential," was published. The raw honesty and unapologetic passion of his words had ignited a fire within me, propelling me towards a career in service. Little did I know then, the path I had chosen would nearly consume me.Gastronomy, I came to realize, is an intimate discipline, demanding not only mastery of ingredients but also a deep understanding of the human experience. Yet, as I immersed myself in the chaos of restaurant kitchens, I found myself drowning in the relentless pursuit of perfection. The pressure to please others, to meet impossible standards, became suffocating, threatening to extinguish the very essence of my being. But life has a way of guiding us towards unexpected paths of redemption. And so it was that on this particular Sunday, I found myself drawn to a humble deli nestled in the heart of the East Village. Green Land Gourmet Deli and Grocery, its unassuming facade belied the culinary treasure it held within.Stepping inside, I felt a sense of calm wash over me, a rare feeling of comfort in a city that often felt impersonal. As I approached the counter, I was met with the sight of a skilled cook, proudly standing before a meticulously organized array of ingredients. Here, amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, I witnessed the artistry of a true culinary professional. Each ingredient was handled with care, each dish prepared with reverence for the craft. It was a stark contrast to the many delis in the city that lacked a true food program, serving inferior quality fare to an unsuspecting public. As I ordered the Tompkins #2—a simple yet sublime sandwich—I marveled at the perfect harmony of flavors and textures. The house-made Cajun turkey, smoked Gouda aioli, and crisp romaine lettuce danced on my palate, a symphony of culinary delights. But it was not just the food that captivated me; it was the understanding that went into its preparation. From the careful calibration of coolers to the precise handling of ingredients, every aspect of the process was executed with precision and expertise. As I savored my lunch in the tranquil embrace of John V. Lindsay Park, overlooking the shimmering waters of the East River, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had brought me here. In a city where rent was skyrocketing and the cost of living was becoming increasingly prohibitive, finding a place like Green Land Gourmet Deli was nothing short of a revelation. In a world where shortcuts and compromises were all too common, it was reassuring to know that there were still those who took pride in their craft. And as I basked in the warm glow of the afternoon sun, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the simple pleasure of a well-prepared meal, and the reminder that in a city of millions, sometimes it's the little things that matter most.”

“I bought two Horizon 8 ounces of milk today. I usually go to this store when I ran out of things and I can't go to another store. It's pricy and almost everything is more expensive than other stores. The staff is OK.”

“Last night we were looking for a special bouquet of flowers ? and we bought a few arrangements to put together to make a larger, more beautiful arrangement from this corner market. The owner of this market unwrapped each plastic bag for us, rearranged all the hydrangeas and greenery together and wrapped them in fresh floral paper with so much care. Please support this business.”
