Target, after years of planning and numerous delays, has become a part of the mega project taking place at the Brooklyn's City Point mini-mall. The store had its grand opening Jan. 29, but had a soft opening on Jan. 25.
For 10 years, this store was in the works and was set to be a major player in the mini-mall's main retail space. It was replacing a parking garage in the Albee Square area. Other stores that opened in this area were Century 21 and Alamo Drafthouse of New York City. Trader Joe's is set for later in 2017.
Target is considered a flexible format store, and will also be seen in Hell's Kitchen and Alphabet City. The stores will be smaller in size but have stock that targets the local community. For Brooklyn residents, this means Nets gear and organic produce.
