Any residents of the Monroe, Toledo or Lake Erie communities affected the officially-sanctioned neighborhood evacuations and flooding are invited to take advantage of the 30-days U-Box portable and self-storage free containers provided by U-Haul Company of NW Ohio.
Company president David Vallie said the area experienced a plethora of rain and high winds, and water levels rose above the walls because the wind blew in a certain direction on the lake. He said several Monroe subdivisions had to be evacuated and street flooding occurred in Toledo.
Vallie said he's lived here for 20 years, and this was the first time he'd seen anything this bad.
He said it's his job as a corporate citizen to help neighbors in their time of need. He said U-Haul will be offering the community a dry, secure location for people to store their belongings for one month at no charge.
Vallie said people needing the assistance should reach out to a local participating location.

Each store will also offer supplies necessary to assist in the story recovery such as tarps, boxes, propane tanks and propane. Customers should top off their tanks to ensure the propane is good in cases of long-term power outages.
U-Haul is a self-service moving and self-storage company with over 21,000 locations throughout North America. Along with the disaster relief program, it also works, in an official capacity, as an American Red Cross Disaster Responder.
