Staples recently opened its Tri-City Plaza location, moving down the street from its original place along Indian Brook Parkway.
Staples began leasing the 12,651-square feet space at the left side of Market Basket roughly a year ago. The space was once home to a movie theater, and it has to undergo a major renovation before it re-opened.
A Staples spokesperson said in December the move was due to a store evaluation - in order to make sure the business was operating efficiently. It will still have a large array of products people need - most of the change affected the furniture area.
Dairy Queen will be built in the former Dunkin' Donuts coffee shop location. The foundation has already been laid, and walls have been constructed. It's believed the restaurant will open sometime near Memorial Day.
Tri-City Plaza Management Company Brixmor said Market Basket brings in more than 37,000 customers each week because of its visibility to the Spaulding Turnpike. It includes a mixture of tenants such as Staples, T.J.Maxx, Dressbarn, GameStop, Payless ShoeSource, etc.
Staples has over 1,300 stores in the United States and more than 1,900 worldwide.
