U-Haul is a moving equipment company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Owned by the company AMERCO, U-Haul employs 18,000 people. The company is most well known for renting trucks, trailers and hitches to individuals and companies who are planning to relocate locally or through long-distance moves. Many U-Haul locations also offer self-storage facilities and sell propane tanks and moving supplies like moving boxes. The company was founded in 1945 by Leonard Shoen who began renting equipment out of his garage. Eventually, Shoen set up franchises through gas stations, and by 1955, there were more than 10,000 U-Haul trailers on the road. Today, the company is the largest in its industry, earning more than $4 billion in revenue annually.
