Captain D's said the company would continue expanding its reach in Florida, with its eyes set to enter the markets of Bradenton, St. Petersburg, Sarasota and Tampa. Franchise Development Senior Director Mark Levis was at the Tampa Franchise Expo, meeting with a number of experienced prospective franchisees.
Captain D's already have 30 restaurants throughout the state, which included three openings in the North Florida area. It also signed a multi-unit development agreement to offer more locations in the Orlando area.
The company's Florida growth plans are rather aggressive but are necessary for its franchise development plans to be carried out. The growth ensures Captain D's will continue to be successful, as, in 2016, it had attained its four straight years of record high system-wide AUV.
Captain D's Chief Development Officer Michael Arrowsmith said the company saw a huge growth in 2016 and will use the momentum for 2017. He said Florida is the major market for this expansion. He said restaurants already in the area are doing very well and they want to continue expanding in the area. Arrowsmith said they are looking for experience franchise candidates to join the nationally-recognized brand that has proven its success.
The 2016 success that Captain D's experienced was cultivated by its product innovation and seafood know-how. The company introduced several new menu items - Homestyle Flounder, Nashville Hot Fish, Salmon Cakes and Coconut Shrimp.
Captain D's said its recently used beach design along with the new offerings have led to its success. About 60% of its 518 restaurants in 21 states have been remodeled or reimaged in the brand's coastal design. Another 50 stores will have the remodel take place in 2017. The company's efforts are to stay true to what it offers best - superior-quality seafood at affordable prices and friendly hospitality.
Captain D's is the number one U.S. seafood franchise and fast-casual seafood leader.
